Hi. I have been a very heavy, daily drinker for quite some time. I started to taper my drinking 8 days ago, and have been reading through these forums periodically over the past several weeks. I have now gone my first 24 hours without a drink, and just joined this site this evening. (I use mobile device for this,so my typing is not the best)

Welcome nadt - glad you decided to post and glad you're getting sober. Hope to see you around the forum - it's so much easier to do this with support.
I thought alcohol helped me feel good about my life, but it turned out to be a sham. When you think about it, poisoning ourselves to make life "better" doesn't make much sense.
Congrats on getting through day 1 - it's a biggie!!

Congrats on your big step. I am 12 days without a drink. It's hard but you can do it. It all starts on day one. We will be here for you every step of the way. Keep coming back. The people on here are really nice and supportive. I usually am on my phone too. Just keep tapping away and we will figure it out. Hugs to you!

Congratulations on your decision to quit. The first few days can be rough. If things get bad, please see a doctor.

made it past48 hrs
Thank you all for your encouragement. I've been reading many of the other new threads andand its amazing how much you can picture yourself in that same situation! I was able to make it through my second sober day.
