New time for change
Hi. My name is Coral and I finally realize I need to be done with drinking. I'm a 45 year old female and I just need to make this real in my mind by posting here. I've been lurking here since Jan and realize it's time for change. Thanks for all the wonderful support here. Start date 11/18/2010

Thanks for the warm welcome! I think what finally got me to realize the severity was the loss of control. I bought a 6 pack of beer only intending on drinking 3 as I cooked dinner (I never drink just 1). I drank all 6 without even realizing I was drinking them. It was like I was on auto-pilot or something. It wasn't a black out because I barely had a buzz but I honestly had no intention on drinking that much when I started. I know I've had a problem with drinking for a long time, but this was the first time I was aware of complete loss of control. I can easily drink more than 6, but this time deep in my heart I honestly had no intention on drinking more than 3.

Hello Coral - welcome! Great to have you here.
Only now am I realising how much I used to drink. Every now and then I get flashbacks into situations in which I drank without intention or any conscious idea of what I was doing (and I am not talking about blackouts - just "normal" drinking). And, I am realising that the majority of our co-inhabitors on this planet don't drink the way I did.
All the best -

Carol!
Congrats on the first day of the rest of your life. It's like moving across country. At first you feel like it is just too strange, and you miss the old familiar. Then given enough time to be familiar with the new place, you'd never move back. I'm rooting for ya!
