New Grandma Here

Granddaughter arrived about 8:30, last night. She is beautiful and healthy and she and her mom and dad are doing very well.

During labor I (just happened) to noticed the name of the meds in her drip , Oxycotin and Fentenyl. Since when did MDs start using opiates/opioids for labor? I blinked and let it go before I allowed my issues ( panic) with what I do not control, destroy the moment.

3 years ago, almost to the day, I learned my daughter was a heroin addict. It was a long journey before she decided to make better choices for herself. She decided to be done. She is clean and healthy today and tomorrow will take care of itself.

Opiates, epidural, spinal block are all still routinely offered.

Congrats!

That new granddaughter is very blessed to have you for a grandmother!

Before I ever went into labor with my youngest, I told the doctor zero drugs, all natural please.

Wowzah! That hurt!

Congratulations grandma!!! :ghug3

There is nothing like the sweet innocence of a baby to put life back in perspective and a smile on our face.

What joy she will bring you and what joy she will find in her grandma too.

Hugs

Awwwww congratulations! What wonderful news!!!!!

And personally, just like a quote from Designing Women, I think women should give birth the way God intended, feet up in stirrups, numb from the waste down

Hugs to you and the new little family!

Since the 1960's I think!
Wow - she is labour - do you not think this is a bit different?

Congratulations on the birth of your precious granddaughter, there is nothing like good baby love. I do not have any grandchildren which is good right now but I adore baby love.

I am glad that baby, mom and dad are all well.

Congrats O2L - how wonderful! Precious moments to share - I'll bet 3 years ago it was unimaginable.

Ok......if we can't see pictures.....how about some stats. How long and how much did she weight? Does she have hair?

Oh I love how they are all curled up in a little ball for a while after they are born.

gentle hugs

Congratulations Grandma! Sounds like your daughter has been on an amazing journey of recovery and hope. Have faith that the birth of this new little one will keep her motivated to stay clean. I'm like you, I would have done a double take looking at the meds in the IV. Hopefully that will be very short term. Enjoy the days ahead.
