This is the day

I've been lurking here for a few days and trying to come up with the perfect day to start absing. Each day, I think "I'll just have a couple tonight to taper off and start absing tomorrow." And then it doesn't happen. Either I successfully have a couple one night and then give into triggers on the designated starting day or I have more than a couple and convince myself the next day that I need a "tapering night" so it's not such a shock to my system.

Nuts to it. I'm starting today. I had too much last night and I feel awful today. I know it's going to be hard to resist, but I have to start SOMETIME. At least I have such a busy day ahead that I wouldn't even be able to start drinking until late this evening.

More later. Thanks for reading,

MM

Welcome. I'm only on Day 4. I don't have any great advice. Just know that you're not alone.

You're not alone, at all - but it gets easier. I just got my 2 Month Chip at a meeting last night.

Hey, Minusmarbles, what a great user name!

Cut it today. Cut it tomorrow. What good has it done you? What makes it so important? Getting a crummy drug out of one's life is a great, if at first difficult, step. It gets pretty sweet in time.

It's always a good idea to talk to your dr before you stop drinking.

I am glad you found us and that you have decided to live a sober life.

I LOVE the name MM...
Yep, dump it. Get rid of it, and quit it today while you feel like crap.
After your busy day today, instead of having a drink, get working on a plan.
Welcome, and keep posting!

Welcome.

4 days and 13.5 hours sober here. (Yes, hours count in my world).

Congratulations on your decision. We're all here to listen and offer what we can.

MM,
None of us that succeeded did it without a plan or alone per se, we had a plan that involved support both here on SR, medical as appropriate, AA or other meetings, counseling, whatever combination works for you.

One thing that does not work is to keep doing the same thing over and over that did not work the last few or many times you tried to get sober. Get in touch with a full support network!

Welcome. It's easy to put of stopping until tomorrow, but as you've discovered, tomorrow never comes.

Thanks, everyone.

I made it through with only a little trouble sleeping and I feel great today. I don't have a long term plan yet, but tonight's plan revolves around Sleepy Time tea and reading the posts here.

Here's to Day 2,

MM

Well done on your second sober day. It will get better, give it time. Welcome to the family!
