Day 1
Congrats! Day ones are much better places to start than day zeros. You can do it.
And you're right not to beat yourself up about it. Getting sober to fix yourself means you kind of have to like yourself. Where you go from here is going to be far more important than looking backward.
Glad you're back to the forum. We're with you.

The physical w/d usually only lasts from a few days to a week. But please get medical help if you start feeling weird or really bad. Be safe when detoxing.
I finally put my heart into it and got sober 11 months ago and don't regret a single day. My efforts are paying off big time with the way I'm feeling now compared to almost a year ago. Keep at it, one day at a time - it's worth it!

Welcome
I suggest a medical detox, a dr can help you with that, it doesn't necessarily mean an inpatient stay. Also, start reading Under the Influence, understanding the myths of alcoholism. This will help you understand the physical disease and how you can help yourself.
Stay with us. You deserve a wonderful life and it is possible. The normies out there don't even know what they are missing.

All the best Inluv!! Remember that all of us regardless of days/months or years sober began with a first day.
This is the start of a new chapter for you and know that you will never have to go through any of this again.
Looking forward to the journey and know we are here to support you!
