14 days
well lets see after about nine years of drinking heavy every day I am now
fourteen days with out a drink
funny thing is that I don"t really crave a drink
but I feel like my head is in a fog and I can"t sleep hardly at all
I sure hope it gets better
I just want to feel like a normal person again instead of a slave to alcohol
thanks for reading my rant

Congratulations on 14 days teasea
The fog and the insomnia are both pretty common - most of us find both get better with time. but don't hesitate to see your Dr if you're worried about anything.
I know you'll find a lot of support here - welcome to SR!

It does get better Teasea. I started to feel better after about two weeks, but it took a little longer before my sleep started to level out. I had a really hard time sleeping normally, and I still will usually wake up at least once during the night, but it is getting easier and I feel like I am getting enough rest now.
Great Job on 14 days. Keep up the good work.

14 days well done - thats my kind of short term goal - currently on day 4 - never got past 12 days in my previous attempts. When I say goal I dont mean I am focusing on 14 days full stop as that could lead to disaster I am finally getting it into my head its very much about one day at a time, however, I am really looking forward just to being able to say that I have been sober for two whole weeks. Congratulations and I look forward to hearing when youre celebrating your first whole month - I wont be far behind
Those strange and uncomfortable feelings will pass with time. Fourteen days is very early sobriety and your body and brain are still healing, learning to function normally again. It will pass. Stay sober and give yourself some time. You will start feeling better.
Good going on 14 days. You said you were drinking for 9 years. Your body is in a state of confusion right now. Like Least said, it's early and your body is trying to adjust to no alcohol, just like you. You should start feeling better in time teasea. If you have concerns visit with your Doctor to discuss them.

Congratulations on 14 days! You are an inspiration: I'm right behind you with 12. I'm glad you're not having any cravings. I haven't had any for the past two days, but I had powerful cravings on Monday. The only thing that saved me was knowing I was going to a meeting that night (had already confirmed plans with a friend).
I wake up about once or twice during the night, but I keep my coffee consumption limited to the morning hours only and just bring bottled water to meetings in the evening, and that has seemed to help tremendously. Give yourself some time. Be patient. And continue to keep it in the day! Great job!

Thanks for all the replies
as you can see by my join date here I have been wanting to quit for a long time now. its pretty bad when the most important thing to do every day
is to make sure to go get enough booze to make it to tomorrow, day after day
that"s not living, we don"t realize we have become a slave until its to late.
good luck to you DebbieG VeeTee isitpukka and viavai
