Hi People
Hi all,
I am an addict of approx 12 years. Gone maybe just a few nights without drinking in that time. I drink alone only.
I have tried AA a few times, but it just does not work for me as a support group because I am very anti-social with multiple phobias as well as an atheist.
Anyway, I have some days off of work coming up and am going to try to detox. My plan is to see a doctor, get their recommendation, and stay at my mother's house for 6 days or so. (She has no idea) If all goes well after that I plan to change up my routine. As for support, not sure what I will do.
Well, I guess I am not asking any questions, appreciate any advice though. Just wanted to introduce myself.
Take care,
poindej

poindej: I'm no expert and it's still early days for me, but I have found reading through the posts on SR and chatting with the people here to be very useful. That's what I have done this last 5 days and it's been a massive help to me.
All the best!

Welcome to SR. YOu'll find a lot of support and useful information here. Glad you're seeing a doctor for help in detoxing as it can be dangerous and glad you'll be with someone during the first few days.
Hi and Welcome,
You'll find lots of support here. SR is my lifeline.
I also found that changing my routine helped me a lot. I am a creature of habit and I drank at home alone, so I needed to be doing something else at those times.

Welcome to SR. I'm so glad you found us. The help that can be found in these forums is very powerful, especially if you are more of an introvert socially. I wish you the best, keep reading and posting.
