Any suggestions???

its my fiances 5 year sobriety anniversary tomorrow and we have a babysitter planned for the night and i want to plan something special but i have NO ideas he is very sensitive and appreciates sentimental things or activities vs just a dinner. i am taking him out to eat but wanted to add something else too. any suggestions? thanks guys.

Perhaps something small....something that he can carry with him to remind him that you are supporting his recovery.

I don't know the protocol of recovery and relapses but if he relapsed and got right back in the saddle of recovery, I don't think it wipes out five years of good recovery.

Enjoy a nice evening!

gentle hugs

I think a nice dinner to celebrate is good. If you want to buy him a little gift it would be nice too. A recovery book, tickets to a sports event that he might like, or something personal that you think would please him...you know him better than we do so could choose something that he would be happy to get.

Congratulations to both of you, and best wishes for a happy future together.

Hugs

thanks ann! i ended up taking him to texas roadhouse (steak house) and bought him a recovery card with a poem i wrote in it about his "road to recovery" and I also found a cute little domino that had the word "success" written on side and "is not about the cards you were dealt but how you played your hand" written on the other. he loved it all - teared up a lil, hallmark stores are the best for recovery trinkets and cards.
