Wow.. I have a friend that I haven't seen in quite a while..close to a year. She really didn't understand about my daughters addiction..minimized, called me an exaggerater, catastrophizer (I wish!) Anyway, I couldn't brush off the remarks at the time, and just stayed away. Well, she is the one who got me interested in Buddihsm, and we had many really good spiritual conversations. For some reason she kept popping in my head. I felt ready to deal and so I txted her and we decided to meet for coffee this morning.
We started talking and I mentioned alanon and how much it has helped me. She told me she has been sober for 7 months (we both work at wineries, so kind of suprising!)She is in the program and working the steps. I then realized I had been wishing (praying, putting out to the universe?) for a friend in the program.Someone I can talk to about the steps, spirituality, etc. Well, guess I was ready because it was provided. We reconnected like we hadn't in a couple of years. I think maybe it is something she needed too. My heart is full.so happy for her sobriety, and for our reunion. Sometimes your faith just gets renewed

I think it is a strangely wrapped gift for both of you that your situations brought you to recovery.

Your story tickled my heart this morning. I just love it when life works out like that.
