Thumbs up TOPIC: I'm Taking You Guys (SR) Along On My Trip

Hi Im Sharon an Im an
Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP
and people like you here
in SR I havent found it
necessary to pick up a
drink of alcohol since
8-11-90.

For that and you I am
truely grateful.

Recovery is a trip
within itself as we
journey thru different
changes and events
in our lives.

From the very beginning
of my journey I learned
that I never had to travel
alone or by myself.

Having a good support
system to tag along with
makes my journey
enjoyable and less
stressful.

I found you guys (SR)
back when I was living
in Houston after a job
transfer. I was taken
away from my recovery
family 7ys into it and
was left with much fear
of the unknown. New
surroundings.

You guys have been
with me for awhile now
and I have been so
grateful and appreciative
of you.

My husband and I r
heading to the Grand
Canyon next week for
our much needed honey
moon. lol

We will ride our Road King
and take our time getting
there where we will stay
4 days on the rim of the
Canyon.

We can't wait.

We have a small trailor
we will pull behind the
bike with luggage and
stuff including my
computer to stay
connected to you
guys.

Staying sober is most
important as well as
enjoying life and all
that it offers with it.

Having a support system
and incorperating a
recovery program with
it are good tools to
use when on a trip.

Im in safe hands with
soberrecovery..!

OMG!!!

I am so jealous! LOL

The Grand Canyon has been on my list for many years!
I saw an IMAX movie where they took dories (better than rafts, sort of like a canoe) down the river with the rapids and splendid scenery.
It was beyond EXCITING!

And what a great time of year to be traveling!

That is an awesome honeymoon and I hope it is filled with wonderful surprises for you!

Thank you for sharing!

(ps..I want to hear about it.((the trip not the honeymoon part LOL))

Have a great time, Sharon.

It bugs me that I forgot to congratulate you on 20 years back in August. So, instead: congratulations on 20+ years, and have a good vacation/honeymoon!

Thanks guys....the honeymoon
part is one we didnt take after
we got married Feb. 14th 2009.

We decided to ride to the Justice
of the Peace on our Road King
and get tattoos that night and
postphone the honeymoon trip
till after i had hip replacement.

Last yr...2009 was a full yr.
for us, so now things have
slowed down a tad and we
can slip away on this much
needed trip for us.

I went to the Grand Canyon
yrs. ago with my first marriage,
kids and spouse. Altho I was
sober, I was still a nervous
reck with fears, anxieties and
unhappiness.

That's in the past as our
25 yr marriage ended.

Since then many new
exciting things have
happened in my sober
life and one is remarrying
and feeling the Freedom
like Ive never known
before.

That is why I feel this
trip is gonna be awesome
this second time go
round.

As long as I got you guys
Faith, a recovery program
to live by then we're gonna
have fun.

Sharon have a wonderful trip my friend!! I love the Grand Canyon and funny enough....I went there with my ex husband. I also remarried in January 2009 and I am looking forward to returning home and taking that beautiful trip with my husband as we haven't had a honeymoon either

I absolutely felt so at peace Sharon when I traveled there. It is just beautiful and peaceful. Another area I love and hope to revisit is Sedona.

Safe travels and have a wonderful time.

All the best

That's amazing when we
share our experiences,
strengths and hopes
with others that someone
will connect and understand
or have had a similar ESH
as you.

That's why coming here
to SR for fellowship in
recovery is awesome for
me.

Some may have this
fellowship at their own
f2f meetings where they
meet for coffee and
meals or sports.

Me, i feel comfortable
here with you guys
even if we never meet
face to face.

There is something
about SR that is unique
and Im glad to be a
part of it.

Im never alone or
lonely here with u.

Hi SR. Well here it is the
eve before we ride off to
the Grand Canyon.

My pets are at camp and
in good hands. Tonight
however i miss them not
being around.

Anyway....

We had to make a run to
Wally World for another
duffle bag to match my
husbands.

The one i bought on
wheels didnt fit in the
trailer that we're pulling
behind our Harley.

Boy it's tricky packing
for a bike trip...lol
Esp. for a women who
wants to bring everything
for comfort...lol

We will take what we
think we will need
and learn along the
way so we will be
better prepared for
the next bike trip.

We will leave tomorrow
morning and it will be
a warm ride, but tempts
will change when we get
to the Grand Canyon on
Sunday.

That is where the extra
clothing comes in to
play....we have our chaps,
gloves, heavy jacket,
boots, face mask...all
comfy warm clothes

We r traveling to McKenney,
Tx tomorrow for the nite,
then Friday to another
destination.

Sunday we check in the
Grand Canyon Inn on the
rim.... yipee..!
