Good news!

My 18 year old daughter (newly in recovery) has been granted her high school diploma! She pursued it and got it and is thoroughly excited and proud , and I am too.Right now things are going pretty darn well and I am trying to enjoy it instead of looking too far into the future.

8 weeks ago she had a needle in her arm. Now she goes to an IOP 3 hours a day, is working, and goes to meetings daily.

And its all because SHE wants it. ANd I got out of the way when I wanted to jump in. But her HP and my HP have brought people in our lives who are helping both of us live our own recoveries. It is early, things can change at any time, but I am very thankful and proud today.

(((Keepinon))) - FANTABULOUS!!! Doesn't it feel great to know that she did this because she wanted to, not because she was forced or manipulated (as I've been guilty of doing in the past )?

I know it's still early, but when we A's put our energy into GOOD stuff, it builds our self esteem and we feel like we can move mountains

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

I am very proud of both of you...your daughter for setting her sights on positive, healthy goals, and you for doing the same through your recovery.

Not one of us knows what tomorrow holds, but time has taught me that the stronger my faith and recovery today, the brighter my tomorrows will be...no matter what life hands me.

Proud hugs to both of you!!!

I recently bought my daughter a card that said..one day she opened her hands and was willing to receive. Wheredoiturn..those people all all around us, when we are ready to receive help, after having surrendered, our eyes open and we see those people. I now pray for the ability to see the graces in my life to keep me in the flow. When your son is ready those people will be be waiting.
Thanks everyone for the kind words..I am taking things one day at a time, LISTENING to what others have share, and am feeling alot better...for today!

I'm so happy for you I could sing.

Thank GOD that your daughter has taken the right path. You have both been through enough. Take care of yourself now, and try to enjoy the peace.
Congratulations on that diploma. I hope she moves right on to college, and makes something good out of her life.
