day one
I feel like day one is easy, day two is not bad either, it's 3,4,5,6 that gets me, I want to make a change today and looking for support. Can't stand hiding the beer cans in my closet. This has got to change! Need help
I agree about day 1 and 2 being ok and it getting worse as you go alon - go along long enough and it gets easier - really!
You want to make the change, do it just for today. Then same again tomorrow.
Best of luck,
Stu

Day 1 is easy because you are probably looking at it as one day. The problem is once you hit day 2, 3 or 4, you start to look at the bigger picture.
"Do I really want to quit for good???"
"Can I really go for weeks/months/years without a drink???"
Those are thoughts you have to short circuit.
There's a lot of meaning behind taking one day at a time.
Just don't drink today, and repeat this tomorrow.

Welcome!!
First off, stay outta that closet, lol.
I remember hiding the ole proof of a bender, using my trunk, the bushes, and sadly, the closet too, lol.
It gets better if we really are done and want no more and seek help, which you are doing. So welcome. You can do this.

hey there
If it is day three or four or many more it is probably your physical addiction to alcohol. Your body is telling you that it needs the alcohol. I would suggest seeing a doctor to alleviate the withdrawal symptoms so that you can start getting the alcohol out of your system, begin eating right to counteract the physical urges and give yourself some rest. Strong will can overcome anything but if you had a bacterial infection wouldn't you want some antibiotics? In my treatment they addressed the physiological, phsychological and social aspects of alcoholism. I suggest reading Under the Influence while you think about it.
