hello

Hi People, just like to say, its nice to read, that there is a light at the end of that tunnel.
Starting day 1 as i type this, really sick of the life i'm leading and this is all down to the golden cans of Holsten pills.

Hear i go

Welcome, Paddy,

Why don't you start a new thread so you can introduce yourself?

Welcome Paddy - good for you for deciding to start a sober life. I got really tired of living that life, too, and so glad I found this place. And yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Glad you're here!:ghug3

Hi Dee, thanks for the link, as didnt know how to start 1?

5.30 in the morning and had me last drink, last night at 8pm, not even 12 hours in, and worried about the 1st week, as i have read horror stories on withdrawl. Any tips welcome.

Had some bloods taken, as doc wanted to test a few things, all was ok as 41 yrs old, but i had a liver test that was above what it should be ( safe readings between 5-40) i was 48 reading, he didnt seem to mention it, and still i put 24 beers down me from saturday to sunday. thank you for the welcome

Drink lots of water, take vitamins (especially B-complex), try to eat something soothing, and don't hesitate to call for medical help if you get any scary symptoms. Detox experiences vary a lot, from fairly mild to extremely serious (even fatal in some cases), so be careful.

Morning Lexi

Did you have any Detox experiences? i always seem fine after 2 days and strong inside, and feeling of well being you could say, but day 3 to 4, i think ar just a couple 2nite, and then Thursday Friday and the weekend is a wash out. i hold down a job, and drive (no dui) and feel if i nip this in the bag now, before i go on a slippery path. fingers crossed

We have a thread in our alcoholism forum you may be interested in - it's where
our members share their detox experiences, and details a little of what people have done to take care of themselves paddy.

Welcome to SR Paddy,

Early on (and still do actually), I try to focus on sobriety for just the 24 hours of that day. My old way of thinking was always frettin' about how bad the future would turn out, but now, I've broken out of that mostly.

Glad you're here with us at SR !!
