So Many Times Bitten

I think too much about drinking.
I try to keep reminding myself that my love of wine is my nemesis, my snake in the undergrowth ... always waiting to grab me.
Today is one day ...

Hi,

I found it really helpful, in early sobriety, to change my routines and shake things up. I made a choice to do things that would take my mind off drinking. For me, early evening was the worst time, so I went out and took a long walk.

You can do this!

Hi MSS
I also found it helpful not to think too much. I was more than capable of tying myself up in knots with crazy rationalisations.

I tried to keep it simple.

I cannot drink and not suffer negative consequences.
I know what it does to me and where it leads me.

If you're willing to do whatever it takes to negate those thoughts about 'loving' wine - whether you find you need to change your routine, or the way you think, or get more support, or add AA or some other programme, or counselling or even some kind of rehab...as long as you're willing to do whatever it takes to change - you'll be ok MSS

Thank you, everyone, for reaching out to me. I think I mightn't have been clear in what I wrote when I said 'today is one day' - I didn't actually mean it as Day One - I meant that as my Friday night trigger nears, so does my anxiety, so today is one more day I have to try to get past my snake in the grass.
I am trying a new routine though: if I need to do errands, etc I do them as early as posible in the morning, come home and change out of my street clothes into my PJs (bra-less, the lot), so that it is just too much bother to have to change to go out again to the bottle shop. I don't keep alcohol in the house.
Might seem a bit strange to some, but so far, this has worked for me ... one day at a time ...

I have to admit I wasn't sure if you meant 'day one' or 'one (more) day to manage' so I tailored my answer generally LOL

You might want to consider adding AA into your routine
if you have not done so.....

AA is not the only way to find support and nderstanding
but it certainly works great for me.
