handing over the money?

i've been trying to let go of the control. his phone is no longer blocked, he has his car keys, he is free to do what he wants. i can't make him get better.

but what do you do in terms of having their cash in your possession?

he's been waiting for a concert this weekend--all year. he listens to the bands record every single day--at least once. he has been so excited.

he also went on a two week drug binge. now he wants to cancel the show and for me to hand over his portion of the money we've been saving.

am i really supposed to hand it over? i want to let go of the control but it is hard knowing what i hand him can kill him.

just hand it over? please let me know.

If it's his money, let him have it. Again, you cannot control him and in the future, I'd refuse to hold money for him.

How were your joint funds effected when he went on his two week binge? Is the money he is wanting his alone or yours too? Does he work or are you supporting him? If he was working when he went on his two week binge did this effect his ability to contribute to the household?

Can't seem to develop an answer without a better understanding of the finances.

I got sick and tired of the addict bailing out on plans....the one thing I have figured out that I could count on would be that events and holidays that are important to me would be spoiled.
He ruined every one in one way or another.
It stinks to be with someone that you can't even plan to do something with in two weeks!
It got just plain ridiculous!
But, hey, missing the concert is his loss.
It doesn't have to be yours.
The money is just one thing....one tree in a forest.
