Final Acceptance

This is my last "giving up" I am not "quitting" - I have stopped. That's it.
No 'maybes', no going back - ever.

You know that once I finally accepted that drinking was no longer an option, my mind started coming up with other ways to deal with things.

I am glad that you are firm on your course.

I am new, but I have accepted this for the first time in my life. When I quit years ago, I did it because my then alcoholic ex-husband told me that I was a drunk and should be ashamed of myself. This time I know I am an alcoholic and was ashamed all on my own.

I have a relative who has been diagnosed as being on the Autism Disorders Spectrum, meaning his brain and nervous system are wired differently to that of most other people. My brain is also wired differently to other people's - I have an alcoholic brain. That's why I can't afford to let my mind play its tricks with me, I have to recognise my triggers and push them aside - easier said than done, I know - hopefully biting the bullet and persevering with the 'doing' will help with the upward slog.
I like your slogan "Stick and Stay and Make It Pay".
Travelling with you!
