Nice post man. yes, I celebrated 14 months sober yesterday and it's hard to believe how much of a better position I'm in now compared to when I got sober 8th July 09. I am a totally different person now to how I was back then. I know that is how I have stayed gratefully sober too, by changing the way I think about and react to life. Profound changes have happened in my outlook and attitude and it has kept me sober 'one day at a time'.
I thank AA and SR for this.
Nice one, peace

24 - Great upbeat, positive post. You are inspiring to all of us in the early months of this - for me it is both sobriety as well as giving AA a try. I do leave meetings feeling very upbeat. In my first few meetings when I realized how many years most had it made me cry because it seemed so far from me. But the AA process makes you part of the group very quickly no matter who and where you are in sobriety. So I am beginning to feel part of the groups I am attending. So thanks for such a great post and encouragement to all of us. You are fantastic!!

24 - Yes, I do get that about the homegroup. I have tried 4 different groups and am very comfortable in 2 of them so between those 2 I can attend a meeting 5 days a week. I actually don't have a sponsor yet but have found someone I plan to ask when I see her tomorrow - she actually lives in my community and the group I like best is the one I can walk to.

Thanks so much for the encouraging words. I think we all need to hear that nearly every day in the beginning, I sure do.
I'm gonna keep on keepin' on, I can do it with the help that I have found in this site as well as other avenues that I am beginning to gain the courage to take!

Hey Mama - Dig your doggie! My dogs are huge in my finding my way through this difficult time (I'm 3 weeks sober today). Plus this forum and giving AA a try. Reaching out and getting out for walks is a big help - esp. when I feel anxious - this instead of reaching for a bottle of red!!
