Welcome Nolookingback!
I quit everything all at the same time just like you and though it sure was not easy I did manage to get it done "so far".
The first few days are tough but well worth the fight from what I can see so far.
I do feel physically amazing right now and have a clear head to face the world.
Hope this helps.

I tried quitting both but went back and have one smoke in the morning and another at night. Used to be 3/4 pack a day and was up to half of a 750ml of Rum. Quit the Rum last Thursday. Just can't seem to do it all at once.
Each Addiction is its own battle. I hope you can do it!! I thought about doing this as well but then I was afraid if I did and gave in to one craving I might give into all of them.
Keep us posted.

WE can do this, I am so happy I found this thread because I was having a terrible day up until then...thank you so much nolookingback!!!
Hola!
I drank 2liters of wine and smoked a pack of cigarettes a day. The two were completely linked in my mind and I couldn't see anyway to quit one and not the other.
I am just shy of two months and can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made, both to quit and to quit at the same time. I will say that after maybe the first week I have thought of smoking maybe 3 times total, where I usually had a thought a day about drinking, now it's maybe every other day.
Good luck! You can do it!

Great to hear others are doing this. Im going to stick to my plan and will succeed. Havent had a smoke nor a drink since Sunday and going to take a day at a time.
I do think that there is going to be a weght gaining issue so I am going to start my gym membership tomorrow. I believe that I need to look at this as a battle and need to plan ahead in order to prevent any new problems from sneaking up on me. Also. I believe the gym will help in giving some relief to all the anxiety that I have built up in because of regret.

Maybe the weight you gain from quitting smoking will be offset by the weight you loose by quitting drinking? At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter as you will be loads healthier.
I do think that quitting is about getting healthier (in addition to so much more)...I detoxed, improved my diet, added vitamins and supplements and a healthier lifestyle right from the start. I was so healthy I made myself sick and couldn't do anything for 10+ days!

I gave up cocaine, cigerettes and booze together 7 months ago, but carried on taking valium (unprescribed) and smoking weed until 90 days ago. It is certainly right to say that each thing is an addiction in it's own right but if you feel comfortable to do it then go for it- Get it all out of the way together then you can start working on recovery sooner.
PS I have gained 15lbs in the 7 months since I quit smoking cigarettes, and although this does bother me I'd rather be a chubby old Granny one day than a skinny corpse at 45. You can lose the weight whenever, concentrate on living healthy and getting clean and sober, the rest will come for us I am sure.
Good Job NLB!

Like LaFemme, my drinking and smoking were intrinsically linked. I also smoked pot whenever I could get it, and that was pretty fundamentally linked to the other two too, so I gave up all three.
I was really at my bottom tho - I was drinking all day and everyday and smoking 40-60 cigs with it, plus whatever weed was going....I really didn't want to die and knew it all had to stop.
It's been 3 and half years now, so yes it can be done, but I know a lot of other folks here have tried and found it really tough.
I'd probably consult a Dr if I was trying to give up three things at once now - it's not easy, and all the support you can get will come in really handy.
