A quick Hello to all

Just wanted to say hello, I thought I would join the forum just to read other peoples stories/experiences that have affected them and family members.

I am actually a non drinker, that has for the past 12 years lived with a heavy drinker, which culminated in her being hospitalised for close on liver failure over Xmas and New Year 2009/2010. As a result of her drinking again after leaving hospital, we split up 4 months ago, even though I had helped (or so I thought) her to realise the dangers.

Really just going to read the forums and see why I still feel guilty for her drinking, when I tried everything in my power to help her stop this addiction.

Anyway, I will try not to bore you all

Its not boring at all. You cant save her. Save yourself... you were probably married to me. And if I was her thats what I would say.

You are doing the right thing... she has to save herself.

Do check out the friends and families of alcoholics forum. Lots of good info and experience there.

Good for you joining up here and helping yourself.

How long were you together and how old is she is you don't mind me asking?
Did she work or have a job?
Did she refuse to go to AA or work any program?
Did the hospital spell come out of the blue or had her health started to go down hill before that?

I hope you are surrounded by people who are giving you support and who understand your situation.

Lot of love
xx
