Finally found an AA meeting that "fits" me!!! WHOO HOOO!!! I am so excited! Went to AA meeting and church yesterday instead of a friends BBQ (with of course included beer). So proud of myself and so happy to have found my new AA group! YEAH!!!! 13 days sober!

Awesome news, Happycamper! Glad you found a meeting you like...they can really differ significantly from each other so it's great you found one that fits you. Keep coming back!

Congrats, HC,

Glad you found a great meeting. I suggest you "join" the group and make it your "home group". It's where you can give back by taking on service commitments (every group needs help setting up, cleaning up, etc.). Actually, I like the idea of having newcomers be the group's "greeter"--it's a great way to meet the "regulars" and also extend the same welcoming hand you found.

Congrats on thirteen days! That rocks! And I am glad to hear you found a meeting you like. They are not all the same, and not every meeting is a fit for every alcoholic. . .so glad you didn't give up!

HC, How many different meetings did you try before you found one you liked? (just curious).

Good job on continuing to look rather than giving up.

Glad to hear that HC! It took me awhile to find an AA group that fit, but now that I have it's great.

DayTrader,

Thanks for your reply! I tried 5 different groups and finally found this one. We don't sit in a circle. It is almost like a bar setting (maybe an old VFW hall). They have a bar with free water, soda, coffee etc. We have many picnic like tables and you can sit where you want. I just feel more comfortable there.

The other day I got to pick a topic and I picked "making amends". Tough subject..many people were mad at first, but I think the topic helped many...including me.

Hope you are having a great sober day!
