Clear as Vodka (a poem I wrote)
Clear as Vodka (a poem I wrote)
This is a poem that I wrote a couple months ago that I just wanted to share...
Clear as Vodka
When I listen to your pathetic attempt to speak
When I watch you free fall head first
When I see that emptiness that lies so much deeper than you let on
It’s so obvious, how can’t you see?
I mean, c’mon... It’s as clear as vodka.
When I see the pile of brown bags and empty bottles
When I’m haunted by memories of you coming home
When you would say that I wasn’t your daughter
It’s so obvious, how can’t you see?
I mean, c’mon... It’s as clear as vodka.
Your flushed cheeks
Your colorless lies
Your broken promises
Your constant denial
Your false hope...
It’s so obvious, how can’t you see?
I mean, C’MON! IT’S AS CLEAR AS VODKA!
So I tell myself that I hate you
How could you do this?
You’re killing yourself
I don’t deserve this...
And then it hits me!
Maybe I’m obsessed with you?
Yes, that’s it! I’m obsessed.
Obsessed with falling in love with my mommy each morning, only to be heartbroken by noon.
(and people think my desire to be with older men is “Daddy issues”)

Nice poem and thanks for sharing, but I'm confused...is there something about vodka that does something different to people? My mother started out with vodka for most of my younger years (screwdrivers to be exact--but mostly vodka--tiny bit of oj--i'd even make the drinks for her) and then it moved to beer and whiskey-Canadian Hunter-to be exact. I don't know the art and tastes of different drinks...but I know my folks always drank the hardcore liquor. Step dad used to drink jack daniels too and get REALLY violent--worse than his normal violent--tequila made them bad too. So...someone want to give me a brief intro b/c I'm very neive when it comes to these drinks...even tho i grew up around it 24/7. thank u and blessings!

thank you for sharing. my mom would make a mixed drink every now and again. but her drink of choice while i was growing up was a beer or port. now that she has relapsed, her drink of choice is vodka....i hate the stuff.....again, thank you for sharing.
