Need a good book to read
hi guys i wondered if anyone could reccomend a good book to read, something a bit light hearted but something that i can really get into, im open to anything.
I checked out the book Dry by Augusten Burroughs. It's an enjoyable read, very funny in some places and quite horrifying in others. After finished it, I went out and purchased two other books by the same author: Running With Scissors, and Possible Side Effects. I have enjoyed reading all three.
Totally not recovery related by my favorite book of all time is "When Elephants Weep" (if you're an animal lover.. you'll probably like it!), by Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson. I guess it's not that light hearted, but I just adored it. It's about the emotional lives of animals.
I just finished reading the Stieg Larsson trilogy - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. They are fabulous books basically involving the sex-trade industry.
Check out The Book Club
For something lighthearted, try High Fidelity by Nick Hornby.
Also, I second anything by Augusten Burroughs...Running With Scissors seemed somehow comic and tragic at the same time.

I third anything by Augusten Burroughs. He's laugh out loud funny.
I am reading The Liars Club by Mary Karr right now. It's not particularly light, but I have laughed out loud a few times.
Recently, I read Live to Tell by Lisa Gardner. This book is not light, either. But it was entertaining.

Not sure if you are into biographies or not, but I am. Plus, I'm a girl, so some the books on this list might not appeal to you at all, but in the past 6 weeks I have read the following:
Rich (Biography of Richard Burton, by Melvyn Bragg)
Elizabeth (Biography of Elizabeth Taylor, by J. Randy Taraborelli)
Jackie, Ethel & Joan, Women of Camelot, by J. Randy Taraborelli
Nemesis - Aristotle Onassis, Jackie O, and the Love Triangle That Brought Down the Kennedys, by Peter Evans
Montgomery Clift (Biography of Montgomery Clift, by Patricia Bosworth
The Girl Who Walked Home Alone (Biography of Bette Davis, by Charlotte Chandler
Dry (mentioned before)
Running With Scissors (mentioned before)
Currently reading Possible Side Effects (mentioned before)
4 books by Dominick Dunne (you probably wouldn't be interested)
I have three more books waiting for me...
I go through phases where I will read whatever I can get my hands on, and then all of a sudden, I won't read a thing for months. I guess you could say I'm in my manic reading phase right now.

Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. I admit that I was skeptical when it was first suggested to me a few years back. However, it's hands down in my top 5 of favorites ~ comedic genius coupled with absurd situations and brilliant character development. It's one of those that you get sad about putting down. Just give yourself about 30 pages to warm up to it.
Well, there ya go! We both like biographies of people we admire or wish to know more about. I think that's great. I have one of Sinatra, one of Dean Martin and one of John Huston waiting for me when I finish Possible Side Effects.
I just finished a great book about dogs called Inside of a dog: what dogs see, smell, and know. By Alexandra Horowitz. Great book, easy to read, and I learned a lot about my dogs.
