Day 7 and I feel better each day(m)
Day 7 since I found this wonderful sits and started reading codependent no more. I
Cried myself to sleep last night because I'm still
Lost and new to this realization about codependency. Anyway, I worked today, but when I come home I dread the add'l cooking, painful silence, blah blah. Usually, even when we order pizza, I can't get anyone to
Decide to pick up the phone so I end up
Doing it. Literally if I don't make a decision, they'll eat cookies! So instead, I hopped on the elliptical because I got home early. Imagine my
Shock when my ah and my 16 to daughter were making fajitas! This will sound quirky because if u knew me in real life, I'm a fairly straight laced finance exec, but I was actually listening to the words on my iPod while working out. I have very diverse music taste. So I hit shuffle and the first few songs I totally related to my recovery ( does this happen to people who start to see the light of recovery when they start applying everyday events?). In case your curious they were Muse-Uprising, Linkin Park - Numb, Candlebox -Far Behind and Sammy Hagar - I'll Fall In Love Again. All had lyrics I could totally relate to right now. Couldn't pull much out of the next few pieces from vivaldi's four seasons though lol

Hi there Joslyn, and pleased to "meet" you
I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling lost, it does take awhile to get used to the whole codependency "thing" and this world of "recovery". I'm glad you're reading the book, and that your daughter and husband actually made dinner, that's an encouraging change.
And yes, I can get all kinds of random inspirations from lyrics. Here's my favs, in the order of my recovery
Joan Jett : I hate myself for loving you
Bon Jovi : You give love a bad name
Collective Soul : Better Now

You Can't Count on Me (Counting Crows)
Anything's hard to change
But hey I got you down on your knees again
You watch the sky
It's a pale parade of passing clouds
That cover
The bed upon which we laid
In the dark
And the memories that I made
Of a laughing girl
But you're just my toy
And I can't stop playing with you, baby
If you think you need to go
If you wanted to be free
There's one thing you need to know
And that's that you can't count on me
Coming along real good
But I still can't do most of the things I should
I watch the sky coming down to bury me and
I can't stop this crawling out of my skin
I know that you see yourself flying in
Out of the sky
Coming down
To carry me
But I won't come out
So if you think you need to go
If you wanted to be free
There's one thing you need to know
And that's that you can't count on me
No you can't count on me
I watched all of the same parades
As they passed on the days that you wish you'd stayed
All this pain gets me high
And I get off and you know why
So if you think you need to go
If you wanted to be free
There's one thing you need to know
And that's that you can't count on me
So if you think you need to go
If you wanted to be free
There's one thing you need to know
And that's that you can't count on me
Aw you can't count on me
No you can't count on me
