Drinking & Drugging the whys

There is a thread in the A's section "I will not drink or drug today because....insert your reason"

Now these people are doing a great work at this.

I read it one night when I couldn't sleep. I saw the title again just a minute ago.
My mind flipped it to I will drink or drug today because.....(insert your reason).

I personally can't come up with the scenario where it would make me feel better today.
Then I am trying to remember all the reasons I was given and actually tried to ponder and understand~because I know the XABF that I had my head up my butt over.....and that I tried to make sense of and believe.

I think the one that struck me with astonishment near the beginning of the relationship was:
"Friends stopped over and had this bottle of xyz and I (looking sheepishly at me) drank a bunch real fast so it would be gone and they would leave before you got here. I am sorry."

I am grateful that today I can laugh about it.

It would make me feel better any more today.

At first I used drinking for control my emotion, at last drinking had controlled and kill my emotion. I am grateful that today I can laugh about it too.

And that, my dear, is the beauty of recovery!

There are a lot of things in the past I won't ever be able to laugh about, but there's a whole lot more that I can smile and laugh about.

It's no fun living in emotional pain 24/7!

Honestly the absurdity of so much of it is rather hilarious to me now!

And I am laughing at BOTH of us....now that it is all laid to rest.
We were NUTS!
