To the Newbies and Not-So-Newbies

Anna:

Dee and I are the Moderators of the Newcomers Forum. Both of us put our hearts and souls into this forum. We both have the same mandate in our minds and hearts and that is to welcome the newcomers and to make each one of you feel comfortable. Someone commented recently that I must get tired of reading the same old stuff. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have always felt such a close bond with the newcomers, and I fully recognize that each person's story is very important. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a member post his accomplishments with pride.

We clearly understand how frightening and vulnerable we feel when we first arrive here, so Dee and I take particular care to make sure every one is treated with respect. We do our utmost to be non-judgemental, to be fair. We recognize that we are dealing with people who are wounded and in pain and we do our best to help people to believe that they can get through the pain and live a good life.

Something that is not evident, is the amount of the work that goes on behind the scenes. There are a vast amount of issues and problems to deal with in a message board the size of SR. When you see a posting from me, rest assured that Dee knows what I am posting before it happens and vice versa. We are in complete agreement about every situation in the forum that we deal with. I not only adore Dee as a person, but I know he has added so much to all of our lives with his fair-mindedness and deep caring.

Me:

I just want to add I'm in complete agreement.

Working with Anna is such a pleasure cos not only is she a brilliant friend and confidant, but we know each other so well - and we both agree on what Newcomers forum should be.

We work hard for it to remain a safe place of welcome, of support, of non partisan non-judgement, of mutual respect, and most of all, of hope.

I'd like to add Carol into the equation too cos she does so much work in the newcomers forums here as well.

It's fantastic to be part of such a wonderful giving team.

It's a challenge sometimes, and long hours, but its the best job I've ever had.

Thank you all

Dee

suki - that was just too funny! (where's the laughter smiley when you need it?)

Dee and Anna (Carol, too) - I'm sure you realize how many lives are being saved here, but I also wanted to say that I think the atmosphere you create has attracted some of the most wonderful people I've ever "met."

I was only here a couple days and found myself wishing we could have an international conference/get-together. Maybe a bit TOO much work, though, eh?

I can't say thanks enough for the fine job you do.......

Dee, Anna, and Carol,

As a complete newbie to the "forum" concept, I was recently thinking about how many complex issues you may have to deal with at any time.

Hat's off to you guys for the great work!!

Grateful to have found SR, ....it's really magical.

I can't even begin to imagine the tireless hours and effort you put into this forum to make it a safe, welcoming, and accepting place.

Thank you both for all you do. I am truly grateful as I couldn't have made it as far as I have without your support.

Y'all do wonderful work. My eternal thanks and love to anyone and everyone who practices Step 12 by helping out at this site.

Now Dee, since you've moved from my favorite Mr. Floyd Pepper to Oscar, what are the chances of seeing the Count?

Tex

Dee, Anna and Carol ~

You three are truly awesome with the warm welcomes and continued support to each and every person that arrives here.

I am truly blessed that I found the SR family which has kept me sober for 22 days now.
