Who cares?

Who cares to admit complete defeat?

Practically no one, of course.

Every natural instinct cries out against the idea of personal powerlessness.

It is truly awful to admit that glass in hand, I have warped my mind into such an obsession for destructive drinking/thinking that only an act of Providence can remove it from me.

What has helped me greatly is to look for the spiritual principles in recovery.

My experience has been, to learn APPLICATION OF THESE PRINCIPLES in the moment I'm in. Head knowledge gets me nowhere.

Uunmanageable to me: MY THOUGHT LIFE, SOBER.

I think you're right - that sense of powerless is something we all fight against. It keeps us drinking longer, especially if we pride ourselves in being intelligent or accomplished or strong people.

Maybe that's what spirituality is all about - at some point in everyone's life, something will bring us to our knees and give us a reason to look inside or seek a Higher Power.

a feeling of personal powerlessness and one of complete surrender seem to run parallel but with completely different outcomes. I am trying to call what I feel right now surrender and somehow it comforts me somewhat.

I have always found that the gravity of the thoughts one could plant in one's own Head can be dangerously powerful if there isn't an underlying belief to support or negate them. Runaway Trains.

THIS IS HUGE!!!

I often post information like this and many do not seem to realize the significance of these principles. It is not my information, it comes directly from the AA literature, which tells me exactly, yes, exactly what I need to do to recover. Yet, most of us, including me in the past, could not get out of our own way to see it.

Most of us are stubborn and defiant.
