overwhelmed? Try these helpful tips

Mike, the forum leader-guy (sorry not sure of his formal tittle) with the awesome hat, once asked me if I was afraid i couldn't stay away from AH because I was thinking in "forever" terms.
Answer: yes.
"Cuz it works a whole lot better if you only stop the madness for _one_ day," he says. "And if one day is too much, there's been times in my life I just stared at the clock on the wall and prayed myself sane for just one _minute_ at a time."
This works! I like it. Just for today, I can keep my boundaries with AH because I know it's the best thing for me. Not forever, don't worry about the past. I'm just living in the moment and taking care of my life.
Just for today, I don't have to figure everything out! Just do the dishes, write this grant proposal and take the kids to swim class. That's it!

Yup. There have been entire DAYS of my life where all I could do is say the serenity prayer, one minute at a time. Some days all I could say was, "God grant me the serenity," before I had to start over again. And again. And again. And again.

I'm having one of those days, thinking I have to fix it.
I have to call and make sure everything is OK.
Rehearsing the brilliance I will bestow on him so he will see the light.
When the truth of it he probably hasn't even give it another thought.
Over-thinking is my curse!
Why can't it just be a bad day or a disagreement. Why the end of the world??
But now I see. Feed the kids, put on some music, get ready for work. That's it!

Well, I came here to rant about having to spend the day with AH at our youngest sons championship meet. It's my birthday too and I'm feeling extra sassy because I love having birthdays, wish I had a tierra to wear around, or however that's spelled.
But instead of complaining and worrying, I think I'll take Mikes advice. Thanks again Mister!
