Greetings from RunningTheRace!

Hello, just want to introduce myself to the good folks on here. This past Thursday night was my last drink. Announced to friends and family my decision, went to the doctor the next day, and am currently spending the weekend "detoxing."

Short story: started drinking when is was in my mid twenties due in part to working in the entertainment industry and "everyone" did it. It turned into an every day from the time I got home till I fell asleep thing. Career changes have not really altered the pattern, but over the past few years, I noticed where before 3 cocktails could put me to bed, now I was needing most of the bottle. And, weekend have becoming drunk fests and this summer I was mostly useless at work. So, time to stop - 15 years is long enough, I think.

I am really happy to find you all here and have already been encouraged by what I am reading, especially the threads on people returning to health and skin and vision improvement. I am looking pretty blotchy at the moment! Can't wait to see my normal face in the mirror again.

So, greetings. Looking forward to communicating, learning, and feeling some support through here.

Warm Regards
RTR

Welcome to SR and a return to living. There are so many, many benefits to living sober. Glad to see you've joined this place. It helped me to sober up and many others.

to the SR family! Congrats on your decision to live sober. It sure does wonders for me every day. My attitude is healthier, I smile more, I wake up feeling good instead of sick as a dog.

Lots of support here and good info so make the most of it. I hope this site helps you as much as it helps me.

Welcome RTR! Glad you're here! The first couple days after I stopped, I just stayed in bed with my laptop tuned in to this website. It made all the difference for me.

Keep posting and reading - you're not alone!

Best wishes to you. I'm on my 11th day of sobriety after roughly 15 years myself. Hang in there, keep posting, it's a big help to feel that you have others in the exact same boat as you are.

Wow!

Thanks to everyone for this warm welcome! I feel loved and I don't even know you all.

So, thank you!!!

Thanks to the meds and chamomile tea, oh, and my Persian Cat who for some reason seems to "get" that I am going though something, I had a pretty decent night sleep. Went down around 9pm and woke up before 4. Got more water, tea. and slept until about a half hour ago.

I am feeling sore all over, mostly in my legs, and still nauseas. But, am currently making some rice and beans with tomatoes....something simple and easy on the stomach, I hope.

This website has been a God send!

I found it, because, I remember seeing a list back in the day. This it was even on a British website, about the stages of recovery..the estimates of when skin heals, etc. as we quit drinking. Anyone know of a thread on here like that or even that has that list?

Thanks, friends!

PS. Any tips from the vets appreciated. Like is it normal to keep asking questions in my own thread? Should I start a new one according to different topic? Well, whatever support you have is appreciated.
