sleep

How long did it take for your sleep to get back to normal. I am still waking up as soon as I fall asleep and that goes on all night. I am lucky to get an hour in.
TIA

It took me a couple weeks to get decent sleep, and it wasn't until a couple months that I reliably slept more than 6 hours. I found out I can still function well on little sleep, as long as I don't also have a hangover to contend with! Warm millk and really bad TV helps.

Hi Beaglenut.

I know how you feel. Very frustrating. I went through the same thing. Took me almost a month. First few weeks were diifficult at best. It does get better. I used to come here to SR and read all night. Helps with insomnia and recovery. Your not alone nor is it unusual. I also found the time good for reflection. Keep up the good fight the rewards are great!

Beaglenut, Took me about 3 weeks to start sleeping like a normal person again. Not sleeping is the most frustrating thing, but it's temporary and important to knuckle through without hitting the bottle.

Oh Beaglenut, you have my sympathy. It took about 3wks for me to start sleeping well again, then I started suffering from nightmares. At 41 days sober, the nightmares are beginning to let up, and have been finding myself sleeping like I did as a kid. My first week of sobriety I hardly got any sleep at all. Best of luck..

Oh yeah, forgot about that lol! Yep, I had a bout of nightmares too at around 30 days in. Also during the beginning, in those few hours I could sleep, I would have "drinking dreams" that were so vivid I would wake up believing that I had actually drank the night before.

This too shall pass

That reminds me too of the drinking dreams, which I still have but not nightly. Ouch, they feel real complete with the feelings of shame and guilt. Hang in there, we've been there too.

well I am at day 25. At day 18 i started sleeping like a baby, yesterday night I had my 1st nightmare, a drinking dream. Thank god you all told me about these. I am so tired today with a headache as if I have a hangover, lol. And I am sure I did not drink...

It takes a good few weeks. After about 2 months though I am pleased to say I returned to normal (albeit a bit lazy and not liking getting up for work- and there was I blaming all of that on booze) :rotfxko
