I'm glad I soldiered through it
Last night was such a struggle to not drink, but I didn't. And now I'm going to list why I'm glad I didn't.
-There's no way in hell I would have been able to handle the craziness of my day today hungover
-I didn't gag and puke with brushing my teeth this morning
-I didn't sleep through my alarm. Also, I actually slept last night instead of passing out
-My pants fit comfortably because i'm not bloated ha ha
-I didn't have to go through my phone to see what texts or calls I made last night
One day at a time, right?

Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. All we have to do is stay sober today. Past or future tripping only puts us in fear, regret, remorse, and sometimes self pity. None of these feelings is healthy for us to have. Great job with finding a way to get through the day! Hang in there you are not alone, I still have days when I have to breath and take it one day at a time and I have been sober for a while.

Good going likeastone.
The actual experience of not drinking has propelled me through the struggle that was once a reality in early recovery. As the positive experiences of not drinking has gathered momentum, through time, the struggle has dissipated to nil.
