All the best to you in your desire to be sober. If you start feeling really bad from the withdrawal please get medical help as alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous besides uncomfortable. Welcome to sober living.

So happy for you. As others have said- please read through the different sections to help you prepare for what you may experience as you detox and continue. I don't remember where I saw an article Carol (forum admin) posted about PAWs- not to scare- but it's called Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome- it gives good information about what you may feel when you are detoxing- which if you didn't read - you may think something is uniquely wrong- when, in fact, many people have felt the intense symptoms-physical,mental, social-etc.

It lets you know what you might expect so you don't wig out.

Best to you on this journey.

You can do this. Just focus on the day, do not think about tomorow and that you can never drink again, too overwhelming.
Stay busy, take care of your body, eat and drink well and take some B vitaims.

PAWS is not what you will feel the first 3-5 days. The first 3-5 days are acute withdrawal, PAWS (post-acute withdrawal syndrome) by definition comes later.

Acute alcohol withdrawal can kill you. Are you going to your Dr?
