Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely grateful.

Coming into recovery for the first
time may seem scarry. And that is
a normal feeling. Not certain what
to expect. Not knowing anyone.

Here's a comforting note.

Your Not Alone.

It was suggested early on to bring
the body and the mind will follow.

I brought myself to meetings and
sat in the mist of strangers feeling
uncomfortable and scared. Yet I
continue to show up as was sugg-
ested to me a many a times.

Take the cotton out of ur ears and
listen. Even if i didnt comprehend
a word they spoke, i still listened
and absorbed the messages shared
by the ones sober before me.

As i listened I heard many share
their stories about what it was
like before during and after drinking
and it all sounded so familiar.

Like as if they were telling my
story.

Hearing that made me settle in
my seat and feel a tad more
comfortable and knew i wasnt
alone in my situation no matter
what age we were.

What i heard was that we all
had a problem with alcohol and
we didnt know how to stop on
our own and just by following
the suggestions of many and
i could stay sober just like them.

Just knowing i was in company
of other alcoholics just like I
made me feel apart of a great
fellowship.

Never do i have to feel alone
again whether it is in a meeting
or here in sober recovery.
