Question TOPIC: How Do You Handle Rejection?

Hi Im Sharon and Im an alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like u here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink
of alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely
grateful.

Rejection.

Have you ever been rejected? If
so how did you handle that?

No one likes rejection. To not be
wanted, loved, cared for.

To be in school and school mates
reject you. Bully you.

To be told you no good. Your
worthless. You'll never amount
to a row of beans.

It hurts to hear that stuff doesnt it?

How do we handle such rejections?

Go out and drink or drug to
handle it? To numb ourselves.

Do we stand up and fight.

What does rejection do to us?

Makes us lose self esteem.

People, friends, loved ones use
rejection to boost their egos?

Im gonna say something to make
that person cry and make him feel
very small while i become the "big"
man or woman.

Do u have any thoughts on this
topic?

Hey Sharon, I appreciate your post.

I tend to bottle it up inside. I am just now getting used to telling my sponsor about things that bother me. It is a slow process. I did quit going to therapy though and my sponsor seemed to think I was ready for that based on the level I have been confiding in her.

So, I guess the best way to handle it is to tell your sponsor. Then decide if you have a part in it. And reconcile it from there. Giving it over to God is becoming a very much more frequent action to me now.
