Thumbs down I think my mother hates me.

I've been here before, hi all, ... just needed somewhere to go, I think my mother hates me... everytime she's seen me in the past few days all she is is purely sarcastic, she's always under pressure, she's screaming at mostly everyone anyway but ... me especially, well I am around a lot but ... for her to just say "F YOU" and "all you speak is rabble" and how I'm always ALWAYS disrespectful, I ADMIT I MAKE MY MISTAKES but she's making it out like I'm a predator, I try ... I try and she just makes me more angrier, and when she makes me angrier she acts as if I am being the one who is causing all the trouble when she is the one who starts arguments .... I can't win here. meh... she's a drinker but even without it she can still be mean, just two nights ago was the famous "F YOU" quote, and then she apologized yesterday, then insults later... jeeeeeeeeeeeez.......

I'm sorry you are still being verbally abused by her rants.

Any way you can remove yourself when she starts these rants?

(( paulos )) It's a difficult situation, for sure. It helped me to imagine that my A was just saying "quack quack quack" when he was hurling his verbal insults. Also, a recovery friend told me to pretend that instead of yelling, pretend he was shooting an air gun... and to think that although it was really loud, it was just noise and it couldn't hurt me.

I know it's hard to find the balance between ignoring your parent when he or she is ranting, and yet to still be respectful because you live in their home. You might find some good information from the Adult child of Alcoholics Forum too.
