Looking for a new life AGAIN

Hello board,
I am on Day 3 of my new life. This time, I thought I could use some online help. My last sobriety lasted from June 17, 2009 - December 2, 2009. Since December 2nd, my drinking had started off with a beer here and there and then progressively declined to a 12 pack +. In the last 2 months it has gotten to an ALL time low. The day after my birthday my ex husband found me passed out in the garage with the garage door open. I have made stupid mistakes but that one was the most tragic. 2 weeks after, I was diagnosed with diabetes. I have been having problems with my hands and feet going numb and tingling (neuropathy)...In any event, drinking beer is not going to help my condition. I keep saying that I can do this. I know I can.
Looking forward to encouraging others as I encourage myself.

Welcome to SR indakut
You'll find a lot of support here

Are you using any other programmes or avenues of support besides SR?

indakut,
I live in the Columbus area too. If you would like some suggestions for AA meetings, I would gladly give you some meeting locations, and/or I would be willing to meet you at a meeting so you don't have to go in alone. I think you can private message from this web site. Or I think you can leave a message privately on my visitor board. I know I am a total stranger, but what is that saying about a stranger being the friend you just haven't met yet. If this interests you, please let me know. I know I couldn't have done it (recovery/maintaining sobriety) alone. AA has been a lifesaver for me.

Hi Indakut - my drinking always seemed to progress, too, even after a period of sobriety. As hard as I tried (and boy did I!), alcohol always seemed to win out. I could be thinking about something one minute, and 5 minutes later I was in my car heading for the store for beer/wine. I discover I just had no defense against it after a while. Glad you've decided to stop and get off the merry-go-round. It's brutal!

You've come to a great place, by the way. Welcome!:ghug3

Welcome to SR. You will find tons of support and useful information and experiences here. Like me, I think your body is telling you that "we are done."

You are part of a great community of wonderful folks who definitely help me daily stay sober.

When you feel weak and think you can handle just one....know that it will pass and come here and post. We will see the moment through.

All the best!!

neuropathy

Hi

I was just wondering if anyone has reversed neuropathy. I have muscle spasms and numb feet. My neuro says it should go away withing six months meaning the nerves heal and regenerate. Has anyone been through this. I am now 40 days sober.
thanks
