7 days Sober
I am in my 7th day.The first 2 days were so hard.I am eating more and gaining pounds. My head seems to be alot clearer and I seem to be able to find my car now in the parking lot where I left it.My wife says it has been a great week for her.I want to drink but I dont want to drink.
I want to drink but I dont want to drink.
Actually, the longer I am sober the less I want to drink, or even think about it.
Welcome to SR, U!
Congrats on your sober time and decision to take your life back! There's alot of ups/downs/adjustments with sobriety, but it is so worth it.
Have you got a recovery plan yet? - lots of us here can share our experience on what we've done.
We all have alot in common, yet we're all unique in what works for us - SR is an awesome place.
Glad you joined us!

Welcome Uwansom & congratulations on 7 days, that's awesome. I'm on my fourth day and I have had to cancel plans with friends in order to not put myself in vulnerable situations. I have felt the want to drink also, especially today, but I just keep myself busy. I've been sleeping a lot more, which is good, because I'm sure my body needs it. I've been going on a few walks, and reading. I've been on here A LOT--& that truly has helped me a whole bunch through this process.
we're glad you're here and we're all going through this together.
WELCOME!!

[QUOTE=least;2587667]Just as long as you don't want to drink MORE than you want to drink, you'll be ok. At least, that logic works to keep me sober.
As simple as that logic sounds , it's really true !
Congatulations on the 7 days , sounds like you have not wanted to drink for
everyone of the last 7 ...24 hours ; ....just by your actions.
If I have some ambivalance about anything in my life , "do I want to do this or not ? " ....whatever it is, I can only know the answer by one thing.
My actions ...... So far , so good , with your actions .!
Seven days sober , would tell me , ultimately you don't want to drink. !
Welcome to SR ,
After 9 long , long years of heavy drinking; .... I'm a few hours away from 30 days sober, with the help of this forum

First off, welcome to SR.
We've all been there, man. Know exactly how you feel. A week sober is great.
What has worked for me is to spend some time reading these forums, especially this one. (Newcomers to Recovery)
I've gained a lot of insight/support/motivation here that continues to help me on my own path to sobriety.
There are some extremely cool people here that understand, and they want to help.
Best of luck. You can do this.
Welcome to SR. You got through the first week and believe me when I say that if you can do that first week that shows you can continue. The first week was so hard. I'm not saying after that you won't encounter tough times, but I just remember that first week pretty vividly still. You are strong. Glad you've joined.
