How is a slip identified in Al Anon?
What is an Al Anon Slip?
I have seen several postings for sarcastic replies to defining what a slip in Al Anon is, and it seems to come from folks who have active AA members they live with, and the answers represent a cross town team rivalry and source for humorous comment. Which I typically really enjoy, I am however trying to understand what specific behavior or actions comprise the lable of a slip that Al Anons typically characterize as a basis for a slip.
Any help would be appreciated so I might be able to speak about my own experiences in the context of accepted terms for identified behaviors that would give my sharing context and enhance my experience in speaking the language of Alanon at my next meeting.
Thank you one and all!

Hi SoberRover,
Not totally sure how to define a slip in al anon. I can tell you what I notice in myself when I start to backtrack.
1. I isolate.
2. Think about (start obsessing) things I cannot control.
3. Stop taking care of myself as well as I should (eating, exercising, sleeping, working)
4. Blame others and see myself as without any control in situation...victimization.
How do I get back on track.
1. Realize what I am doing.
2. Do better.
Hope this helps.

A slip for me would be any return to enabling my A brothers.
Obsessing for more than a minute about their health, their choices, their disasters, their future.
Blaming others for my own discontent.
Allowing other people's moods to mess with my serenity.
Trying to control outcomes or behaviors in others.
Thinking I know "best."
Hmmmmmmm
I could probably go on!!!
Have you been in AlAnon long?
peace-

Since I have an XAH a slip for me would be contacting him, friending him on Facebook(he is trying to friend me), calling him, texting etc.... My Alanon sponser says he was my drug. Ain't going back. No contact is best for me.....And I agree with what was said above in other posts/all the above.....
Conceptually, a slip in AlAnon is the same as a slip in AA: backsliding into the self-destructive behaviors we've worked so hard to fight free of. And it's different for everyone.
We slip, we fall, we get back up, we try again. Just like AA.
I have not seen the sarcastic responses you mention, nor the humor directed at people here who slip. Not sure what you're referring to there. But I hope you've found the information you were seeking.
