do i start over
do i start over
I had 10 days sober and slipped and had a few beers night, I didbt even enjoy them and they made me sick, because I am a on antabuse. I dont want top go back to day one again. Can I use my get out of jail free card for this stupid choice I made?
No get out of jail free card. Back to day one for you!
It's not about days, my friend. So what did you learn? Hopefully more than alcohol + antabuse = sick.
Get back into recovery. What will you do differently this time?

it's not about counting days, it's about staying sober no matter what. If I drink it's back to day one for me, no excuses. Start over again and do something different this time. Learn from your mistake and move forward agan.

What choice do you have? You are on day one. That's the truth, and there is no getting around it, whether or not you believe it. It is what it is.
When I got sober, I had to learn to deal with reality instead of my mildly insane fantasy life of how I wished things could be. Things are exactly as they are.

At the end of the day, it's up to the individual person.
Of course a defect of this is the temptation will be from now on to just do this every so often, leaving yourself vulnerable to more of the same.
Look at it this way, imagine how more satisfying it will feel in seven days from now to know that you have a true week under your belt.
All the best

Hi igottabesober,
I’m new here so I’m not really qualified to give advice. But one thing I’ve figured out for myself is that there is no contest to see who has the longest sobriety. It’s about living life to its fullest.
For me, living my best life means no alcohol. I only have a few days sober since I drank the other day, but I think I’m starting to get it. One thing I’ve noticed is that sober days seem to last much longer than drunk days. I guess this is because once I start drinking, all meaningful living is over for the day.
Anyway, I’ll end this because I think it’s sounding preachy, but that isn’t my intention. I wish you the best and hope we can all help each other achieve our goals.
Bob

What is more important, your sobriety or a silly number? Who cares what day you are on. Learn from your experience and start over. The worst thing you could do is just say "ahhh, heck with it, I slipped and am starting over, so what is the point of staying sober". Put the plug in the jug and saddle back up partner.
I'm no expert on the subject, but from what I've gathered, talking to people here so far, every day is pretty much Day 1 (First day of the rest of your life).
Anyway, everyone makes mistakes. It's not so much where you are with a problem as which direction you're going, IMO.

I've noticed that very thing, the last 5 days ! The days DO seem longer. And it's true; .... sobriety is not a competition. It's more like playing a musical instrument with friends for the joy of it, ....that's not a competion either.
Like me , ....I'll bet most people don't get it the very first time

For me, it's not necessarily about the days of "clean time" that i have and announce and pick up chips for. It's about staying clean and sober just for today.
But, if i am counting clean days and i use one day, no matter how small or whatever my excuse is, i have in fact started over. It's not up to me, it's a fact. Counting a day that i used as a clean day makes no sense at all.

I literally dont know what to post...
To be honest i was going to post sure, why not...
You could always head down to an AA meeting, get a sponsor, get a spriritual awakening and live a real happy life free from alcohol and all the insanity that goes with it...
I don't feel sad about most posts but i do feel for you...hope you get it very soon:-)

Yes, you start over.

That being said;
Time isn’t precious at all, because it is an illusion. What you perceive as precious is not time but the one point that is out of time: the Now. That is precious indeed. The more you are focused on time—past and future—the more you miss the Now, the most precious thing there is.
You already know the answer IGTBS.
If you don't want to be endlessly reliving the Day 1 experience, I think you also know what you have to do.
Do whatever it takes to make this stick IGTBS - I forget, have you considered a recovery programme?
Good to see you back

May be cliche to say...don't count the days, make the days count...but it's true.
My sobriety date is always 'just for today' - that keeps me in the moment and on today because that's all I ought to be focused on - not next week, next month, next year.
I've got to continue to grow and learn in recovery - instead of counting days, it just becomes a way of life for me - it's not always sunshine and roses, but that is life.
Support with a sober network is essential - both f2f as well as online, imo.
