Divorce paperwork filed....

I did it.

This morning I filed the divorce paperwork. Suprisingly I was calm about the whole thing. I didn't cry 1 time. On the way to the courthouse my whole relationship flashed in my mind. Everything I have put up with, the drugs, the alcohol, the lying, the cheating, the fear....Then I felt peace. It was really weird. I did get a text from AH on the way to the clerks office saying "Instead of serving me divorce papers, why don't you send an executioner"...it threw me for a minute,,,but I figured, last ditch effort on behalf of AH and shrugged it off.

Now comes the service. I still have to figure that one out.

One step closer and it feels great!!!!

Good Friday!

Your local court system should have some help files online, where they explain how to have someone served.

Well you DID send an executioner... an executioner to the crap and noise.

Someone once told me (when I was divorcing my AH)... that I was divorcing the Addict/Alcoholic...... not the person I fell in love with.... that helped me carry thru.

Good for you... you are taking care of you... and that's how it should be.

Take care.

Froglegs,
I imagine Johnny Nash says it best..

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

I wish many sunshiny days ahead for you...

Congratulations!! A promise to yourself should be a promise kept. So proud of you!

That said, I know this is a very tough time. You will have moments of sadness and even regret over the decision. His melodramatics only serve to throw your momentum off. I am sorry for that. Do everything you can to stay grounded in the moment. It is very easy to forget the reasons we made a decision to do this or that so it's helpful to right those reasons down until we can trust our ourselves more.

This is just a step in a long journey, be patient and caring of yourself. Your SR family is here for you!

Alice

Well-it must be in the air, I say. I was the County Clerk's office this morning as well and filed my petition. I have the same issue-how to best get him served. We will figure it out...but my girlfriend-who helped me thru it all-just so that I don't lose momentum and for support, snapped a picture of me outside the courthouse and while I was being sworn to true statements. Posterity!

Your clam nature says it all...you are taking care of yourself and it IS the right thing to do for you, today at this very moment.

Big Mermaid hugs.

That's effort?! Lmao. Man, I'd hate to see him on a bad day.

Good for you for making a move forward. The best of your life is just around the corner.

Froglegs, have you read thread from Transform about her nutter colleague? Can you get the address of executioner from your Ex and give it to her please.

May end up with a thriving hit-girl business.

God bless

mermaid girl says your clam. :-) There must be something in the water.

Seriously, out here in Seattle, there is a huge marketing campaign "Keep Clam" and there are clams and mermaids on the buildings. I love it!

Keep clam ladies!
