Whirlwind 4 days
Whirlwind 4 days
Have just got our power back after living without mod cons since Saturday night.
Have lived thru a few cyclonic blasts in the 33 years up here, but this was a real doozy and the only time I have ever felt scared......scared??? I was totally terrified.
Need to contact some friends and relations now.and put them out their misery so will post again later.
For now, have freezer to clean out UGH..
But at least I am ok ( a bit more silver in hair)
and unit undamaged.
God bless

Great to see you back! A bit more silver hair wont do any harm either!.......I saw the damage on TV and it looked somewhat blustery.......So glad to have you back and so glad you are safe and your unit was not damaged...lots of us were waiting on your safe return!
Glad you are safe and well......Phiz :0)

Thanks to all, and I do believe your prayers mitigated the danger....But, if another one comes here could you add a little less TERROR for me.
I have been thru a few before, but this one sure did a better job than caster oil ever did.
From 7.30pm on Saturday to 4am Sunday, the wind gusts rocked my brick duplex unit, shook the roof and the window panes actually bowed. Power went off at 10pm, soout came the candles, til I went to bed. Then the rain came down, so strong it was horizontal, and swirling round.
1am, I got out of bed, dressed and moved into the lounge, sat in my recliner chair for the night and just prayed. I felt as if the bedroom windows would go, and I wasn't staying for that.
Dozed off until an almighty crash on the roof made me levitate out of the chair, and wondered if I still had a whirlybird or antennae up there. Later an emormous crash, glass breaking and realised that a huge tree had come down, on the corner of a neighbours house.
RABF battled his way over at 5am, and we waited til it got suddenly calm at 6am, then very, very carefully had a look round outside.
Oh Lord, what a mess....palm fronds and tree branches, leaves, an esky lid and piece of someone's roofing tin on my lawn, but otherwise all ok. Didn't lose 1 passionfruit....miracle.
The road outside was covered in rubbish, parts of fences, roofs, a tv antennae, branches and a couple of wheelie bins.
I couldn't get thru to my kids as my mobile network had a couple of their towers damaged, and they couldn't get me....hello panic.
Then the rain came again, in sheets so you could barely see thru it.
Today I had to clean out the freezers, and fridge, ready to put in my insurance claim, and I hate doing the chest freezer, as I dread getting stuck with head down and legs flailing in the air.
Hopefully this is the last one of the season, cause if there is another, I AM GOING TO HIBERNATE UNDERGROUND OR GO WAY OUT WEST.
Have a few snaps of what it looked like after Elui blew thru here.
God bless
