Day 4, New to SR!

Hi all, first I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the inspiration and suggestions I've found on the site.

I have been in and out of the program for about 5 years now, but have never been able to piece together more than 3 months. Several reasons for that, but primarily because I did not live the AA way of life nor did I practice anything that was suggested in meetings and by my sponsor. I would make meetings and then leave it all at the door as I took my will back following every meeting. SR is a great forum to interact with others in between meetings to keep my thinking on track. And for that I am GRATEFUL!!!

4 days, no booze. Looking forward to interacting with everyone!

Welcome Jacoboceanic to SR! This place saved me from myself. I drank for over 25 yrs. and just couldn't make sobriety stick. When I saw all the people here with my same problem, I knew I was no longer alone. All the things I thought were my dirty little secret - others had had the same experiences. No one else in my life has a problem with alcohol, so I was all alone with it until I came here.

Congratulations for wanting a new life & future. I wish I could go back to being your age and do it all again without the booze. I have no idea why I felt the need to be numb all the time. That's not living. You already know that - some never get it. Be proud of yourself and your desire to get well again. This time maybe it's for good.

Thanks! I look forward to reading the TONS of posts on the site, and meeting some good people. I am very familiar with the program, but the good news is is that I've never actually worked the program (if that makes sense). I need to walk through the door instead of looking in through the window.

Thank you so much all! Yes, the promises do work! I see it in every meeting I've been to. And even the 3 months I've been sober in the past they seriously began flourishing. It felt great. But with me, my disease is so strong that it has the potential to overtake my thinking if I do not work a rigorous program. I was not taking suggestions given to me (my will not his).

I am working on a 90-in-90, which in the past has been suggested to me. But of course "I knew" that was ridiculous.
