Thumbs up TOPIC: No Reservations. No Lurking Notion.

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a glass of
"POISON" since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely grateful.

How many of you have a Big Book
of Alcoholics Anonymous? It's a
blue book. Mine was given to me
back in 1990 when i entered rehab.

That book and a little black 24 Hours
a Day book were with me 2 4 7 as
i learned thru the yrs it carried all
the answers of how to stay sober
one day at a time.

It was one of many TOOLS I have
used along with my recovery program.

I think on page 33 it should have
a passage that says.....

We have see the truth demonstrated
again and again:

"Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic."

Commencing to drink after a period of
sobriety, we are in a short time as bad
as ever.

If we are planning to stop drinking,
there must be no reservation of
any kind, nor any lurking notion that
someday we will be immune to alcohol.

If we want to quit drinking, we are
going to have to quit drinking.

A A = Absolute Abstinence.

I did heed that warning and did
have the desire to not drink ODAAT.

I also know that i am one drink away
from a drunk and i chose to not
drink. JUST FOR TODAY.

I cant believe i have collected that
many ODAAT together to get me
where I am today.

Not focusing on the future or whats
down the road has kept me in today.
