New Here.... help with the lingo?
My husband has recently began out patient rehab for cocaine abuse. I am trying to learn and understand as much as I can about his addiction and the affect on myself and our family. This forum seems very supportive and helpful. Can you explain the acroynms and abbreviations?
Thank you
Thank you
Welcome to SR!
I think someone said they are in one of the "stickies" (the posts at the top of the forum) but I don't know which one, so I'll post the ones I can think of here, for now.
AH - addict (alcoholic) husband
AD- addict daughter
AS - addict son
XABF - ex addict boyfriend
BF - boyfriend
RA - recovering addict
XAH - ex addict husband
XTBXAH - soon to be ex addict husband
DD - dear daughter
DD- dear son
DOC - drug of choice
ES&H - experience, strength and hope
That's all I can think of, right this minute, but it gives you an idea of what the letters stand for.
BTW (by the way), I'm an RA and a codie (codependent)...I have loved ones who are addicts. This is a GREAT place, with people who know exactly what you're going through.
Hugs and prayers!

Welcome Chloebelle!!
I needed a roadmap, too, when I started here over a year ago.
It's been an outstanding source of support for me in first coping with an alcoholic boyfriend of 10+ year and then ultimately choosing to leave him and strike out for a new life on my own. I'm still here working through my own issues, which were present long before my XABF (ex alcoholic boyfriend).
The folks here support me every day by sharing their stories and letting me share mine.
I hope to here more from you.
Again, Welcome!
