This is my daughter:
delightful
gorgeous
generous
bright
compassionate
grateful
funny
beautiful
fun
alcoholic
Alex went to Daytona Beach with four friends. They are staying in the time-share of a friend's parents. The parents are with them.
They got there late Friday night - so no groceries - and the parents got up Saturday and off to the store. The kids hit the beach.
Today at 2:00 I got a call from the mother - I knew her name and know her daughter, but have never spoken with her before. She told me that the kids were hitting the bar on the beach (goes w/out saying) and that Alex passed out. That although they were all drinking, Alex is known to over-indulge. That her best friend could not revive her. Friend thought it wise to call for an ambulance.
When the mom called me, she was in the emergency room, in a hospital 1300 miles away. I was told that, as an adult patient, no one else would be given any information. She had been there for an hour and had not regained conciousness.
She is 21 years old.
My heart is breaking.

I can only imagine the helplessness and fear you must be feeling, hon! Take deep breaths. Pray. Try to imagine God's loving arms enveloping you as well as your daughter.
I am putting your daughter on my prayer list. Please keep us updated as you can! :ghug3 :ghug3

oh, sweetie, I've got goose bumps. Please know that I am sending many, many prayers to you, your daughter and those who are taking care of her. I used to be a nurse at that hospital...it's a very good hospital.
Please keep us posted.
Hugs and prayers!

Prayers have been sent!
You are her next of kin and if I'm not mistaken, all you need is her patient code. Please call the hospital and ask how you can get it, and ask if they have a patient advocate, too.

I'm praying for your daughter, CD, that she will have good care and get through this a little wiser for the experience.
And special prayers for you because it just stinks being the mama of an addict/alcoholic.
Please keep us posted and know we're all praying for her.
