recently i have been having what i guess you could call flashbacks...,not lsd related...with pretty intense urges. i am getting anxious because it has been going on for about 2 weeks & i was wondering if anyone here has gone through the same thing and/or had some advice..thanks

I'm not sure if you mean you've been sober for two weeks or the flashbacks have been happening for two weeks?

If you are having strong urges to drink, then do whatever it takes to distract yourself. Take a look around the boards here and you'll find lots of information and support.

ive been sober for 2 years... for 2 weeks i've been having a lot of memories from my partying days coming back to me & when i get them i have urges

That's your disease wanting you to come out to play. Try some chocolate,...something in chocolate actually calms those feelings your having.
Just curious do you go to meetings?

i saw a counselor for about ayear..it was court ordered. i stopped seeing her a couple months ago

at our last meeting she suggested that i find an online support group like this but i didnt until today because i thought i was fine..

Maybe you need to find a home group. I'm 11 years clean and sober and I still need that check in with other addicts and alcoholics.

welll rightbefore i got sober i totalled my car & havent had one since.. transportation is a problem or i would probably do that. the chocolate thing sounds good though

I haven't know anyone that has totalled their car from too much chocolate.

When I was with with old friends after getting clean, if they were talking about "the good ole days" (puke) when we partied together and all that, I'd call it "parting" instead of "partying". They'd be like, "'parting' - what are you talking about?" I'd say, "yeah - partying was nothing more than parting with my sanity." They knew I was telling them the truth - they knew ME.
