phfffffffffffaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.
That's me breathing a big sigh of relaxation.
I had a really good run of posts on the CDM Ch1 thread. I really got to connect with my little, frightened girl that feels scared by my husband's drinking and lying and not opening up.
A quote from my mom, "All of us on earth have had hard times as a child when a responsible adult was needed and they weren't there. My therapist said our job in life is to BE that responsible adult for our child-parts when they get scared."
Brilliant. Truer words were never spoken. I have had my show being run by a very scared little girl.
So I am making that safe space around my frightened babies. I am being the responsible adult and taking care of them - telling them it's safe 'cuz I have stepped up to the plate. (Boy did they not have the skills necessary to navigate this stage in my life!!) Poor things. I have a very competent adult that can handle things with serenity (when I notice she is not in charge and can go find her again!). She was out wandering in the woods, but I retrieved her and she's back again.
I then dove into CDM and got to the second part about how to change.
I read the section on detachment and remembered. OH YEA! THAT'S what everyone has been saying. LOL!
I had given away my peace.
For today, it's back.
Thanks y'all for planting those peace seeds in the garden of my heart so that they may grow.

Thanks!
Here's something fun ~
A Recipe for Making Choices
Ingredients:
Life
You
A crossroads
Steps:
1. Collect all your options (even overlooked ones in the back of the cabinet)
2. Learn what you can about your options
3. Feel (emotionally and physically) your reactions to each option
4. All one to "rise to the top"
5. In none rises, choose "a choice", and TRUST, whatever it is, it will bring you GIFTS
6. Repeat

Haha. I loved that Wife!
Last semester I actually wrote a lot of really expressive poetry for a creative writing class based on my experiences w/ XABF and one of them was
"Recipe for A Disaster"
LOL. It's a little bitter..yours is much sweeter and easier to swallow.
Cute.

If I get enough courage I should post my poem in here.
Or maybe we can all write our own recipes for positive things.
My Disaster Recipe is angst at its finest. It doesn't scream "recovery," but its kind of funny in a satirical way.
