Trying to stop this binge...

I can string together about 6 weeks sober, then have a 2 or 3 week binge before hitting yet another bottom. I finally came out of it today. Was considering going to a detox center at the local hospital, but the med bills are piling up (did that 3 times in the fall). I haven't been to a meeting in months, but want to start going back. I basically binged Tuesday through Friday, luckily I made it through alive yet again. I need to remain hopeful and I'm going to a 5pm meeting.

Looks like you are on the right track and good to know you realize that that is no way to live.

Let us know how your meeting knows. You can do this.

Good for you! Don't ever get up and find out what is triggering you back into the grasp. You can absolutely do this. You will do it. A meeting is a great idea.

Thanks for the words, folks. I'm so...depleted right now and physically feel just awful. Any recommendations on anything that could make me feel better/speed up the recovery process? I was thinking about a long walk to clear the head, if i have the energy.

Drink lots of water and juice. B vitamins can help also. Try to eat 'easy' food, like soup and such. I'm glad you're going to a meeting. AA has helped so many alcoholics stay sober and live a life beyond their wildest dreams. All the best to you. You CAN do this.

Welcome back Mike.

I'd really get back to a meeting - they seemed to help didn't they?

The meetings helped, but I stopped going cause I thought I was "all better". I was feeling pretty good, and started thinking "Hey, I feel great, I can moderate." This happens everytime I start messing around with it.

Many of us had trouble staying sober....
I sure did.

Working the AA Steps shifted me into solid recovery.
Hope you will find that true for you...
