Hey,

It's been a few days since he left the house. All is going very well. I'm still doing a good job of keeping the old behaviors at bay. He called on Friday to say he was checking into the hospital the next day. He said "not because I'm on drugs, I'm just not well". Guess what I heard. The white aflek Duck "quack, quack, quack" (read that somewhere on here, it really works)! Anyway, I called his mom the next day. Of course, he wasn't going into the hospital.

Anywhoo, Things appear to be moving right on time. :-)

The Aflack duck commercial can be turned off, anytime.

It's terrible. But, I want him to fall (splat) because it appears the one and only way.

I'm going on a much needed retreat this weekend. :-)

I read that when your addict talks to just envision him/her as the white afleck duck "quack quck quack" It's from an insurance commercial, you'd have to have seen it. :-)

another one that I like to use beside the quacking duck is "I'd have better luck talking to a PINE TREE than trying to reason with an active drinking/using partner."

For me, the next time I think I can have a sane discussion with a loved one that is under the influence of alcohol or substances - I just walk outside and talk to a PINE TREE - I usually get better results than talking with the alcoholic/addict.
