Question about SMART Recovery

Hi.... just a quick question for anyone who can answer.

I am thinking of going to a SMART Recovery meeting (there is one right down the street from me!) to try it out.

I was just wondering if any of you have tried this method and if so, what useful information could you provide? It looks REALLY interesting to me. I feel silly that I didn't pay much attention to it before now, but I'm interested to learn more about it now.

Thanks....for any experiences or information you can provide!!!

Alera, the Secular Forum mod, is very familiar with SMART. I believe it has worked well for her personal recovery and I think she even runs her own meeting now. Try shooting her a PM, or post in the Secular forum for other responses. Take care.

I didn't go to any of the meetings but did do all the worksheets when I first got into the recovery and used them often when I had cravings, and was working on things.
I love the principles of Smart it is very helpful for me. I still refer to it often.

Dave

I never did SMART either
but it's another kind of recovery programme.

I don't do any program but Smart looks like a good place for those of us who don't go for the supernatural stuff.

I do the same . SMART is very close to the foundation of treatment principles (CBT) I used when I first got sober.

Looking forward to hearing how your meeting went. Welcome to post about SMART in the Secular Connections forum here at SR. We often discuss the different tools and so on...
