Standing back up.
Hi everybody. I was a relatively new user in December. I had a week or two sober, and had a vacation with friends. I expressed nervousness about the vacation due to the fact that they are my boozing friends. We don't do anything else. Ya'll warned me.
Well, I held out for 3 days, but then drank again. And, I haven't really stopped.
It's amazing that a single night can lead immediately to a month and a half bender. Work is stressful and all that too, but ... only made more so by groggily going through it.
Trying again. Dammit.
Best,
np.

I'm glad you're back!
I was very frustrated to discover that I couldn't be around people who were drinking. I was certain I could manage it, but I couldn't.
Learn from the experience and move on.

Welcome back! I'm glad you're back and trying again. Yes, it's amazing to me that anytime I thought I could have just one or two I was back to drinking too much, too often in a very short time. For me it's all or nothing and I want to be sober now much more than I want to drink.

Glad to see you picked yourself up, dusted yourself off, and returned. Thanks also for the reminder that it only takes that first drink to undo everything. Now that I am feeling better, I do have struggles with the fact that "maybe I can handle it this time", even though I know it is not possible.
